Measures to support accessibility
Jefferson Land Trust takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of saveland.org:
- Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
- Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
- Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
- Include people with disabilities in our design process.
- Use of industry standard assessment tools in our design and development process.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. saveland.org is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Jefferson Land Trust assessed the accessibility of saveland.org by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation
- Use of Chrome Wave Evaluation Tool
- WAVE is a web accessibility evaluation tool developed by WebAIM.org. It provides visual feedback about the accessibility of your web content by injecting icons and indicators into your page. No automated tool can tell you if your page is accessible, but WAVE facilitates human evaluation and educates about accessibility issues. All analysis is done entirely within the Chrome browser allowing secure valuation of intranet, local, password protected, and other sensitive web pages.
- Use of Contrast Grid for color testing
- Test many foreground and background color combos for compliance with WCAG 2.0 minimum contrast.
