There’s a lot of exciting things happening in the Land Trust’s education programs over the next few months! Check out what we’re looking forward to:
- Field trips with public school students to Valley View Forest Preserve, Snow Creek Uncas Preserve, and the Quimper Wildlife Corridor will run March through June. We’ll also be running climate resilience training with Port Townsend public school teachers at Valley View Forest Preserve.
- Our annual Spring Break Youth Corps paid internship program will return April 14-18, offering nine students the chance to get hands-on land management experience on Land Trust preserves! Applications accepted through March 30. Click here to learn more and apply.
- Our enduringly popular Tidelands to Timberline northwest natural history course begins in April and runs through June. This eight-week, field-based course offers committed adult participants the chance to become intimately familiar with the natural history and ecosystems of the northeast Olympic Peninsula.
- We’ll soon be kicking off a collaboration with community environmental education partners to increase school access to programming. We’ll also be working with Jefferson County Library to support their summer youth education program.
- In May, we’ll offer three “Birding By Ear” outdoor learning sessions with local ornithologist Dr. Jackie Canterbury at the Quimper Wildlife Corridor in Port Townsend. Click here to learn more and register.
- In June, bring your family’s love for outdoor adventure and creativity together in our Family Plein Air Art Class! Join local artist Patricia Hagen and a local naturalist at Valley View Forest Preserve in Chimacum for a guided walk followed by the opportunity to create your own nature-inspired artwork. This class is designed especially for kids! Stay tuned for more information.
